Down Boy: Getting My Blush On!

I've been trying out The Balm Cosmetics for a while now. I do love a new product line, I feel like some kind of intrepid explorer venturing into uncharted waters with a new bag full of goodies. I recently posted my review of The Balm's Cheater Mascara which I loved and today is the turn of Down Boy Blush and Eyeshadow.

I love the packaging. It's proper pin up chic again. It opens out into a heavy paper compact. The blush has a cover from which the compact is slid out of. The design is pretty and fun, even though it's a light paper compact it feels nice and luxe. You see the little details that have been put into it and it becomes obvious that a lot of care and attention has gone into the design. I do love a pretty compact. You know me!

This is quite true to colour even with flash, it is perhaps a tiny bit darker

It's very pretty and actually quite small. It fits really easily in the zip part of my bag, Although we all like big products I do like to be able to take as much out with me as I can and have it all fit in my bag. This is a versatile piece, like the other The Balm blushers they double as eyeshadows as well. This is a really pinky shade, I actually really like it on the eyes and it doesn't look a bit like myxomatosis I promise. I'm super pale so it really pops out on my skin.

I couldn't get a really good photo of the colour on my cheek so I went for the next best, a little swatch on my wrist, you can get a really good sense of the colour.

It's quite a potent pink but it is soft on the skin. I don't know if it helps but it did give my tattoo a little coverage. This was taken in daylight with no flash. It reminded me of Benefit's Dandelion a little bit, although I would say it is perhaps a slight shade darker, the consistency is very similar though.

It packs a punch as a blush though, I've worn it now a few times and you don't need to use a lot of it to get a good colour. I'm so pale so I don't need to use a lot anyway but I think if you've got a tan or have darker skin it might be perfect for you.

You can check out the rest of The Balm's products here, they have lots of different blush colours from bronzes to lighter pinks.

Have fun folks

Much Love
