If It Doesn't Come Naturally, Cheat: The Balm Cheater Mascara

I love it when people who read the blog point me in the direction of things that I'll like. I love vintage stylings and of course being a beauty blog I love anything lotion or potion. So I was really chuffed to be asked by Find Me A Gift if I' d like to have a look at The Balm Cosmetics. They have added a beauty element to their website and thought that it would be very up my street. They were right. If it were any more up my street it would be parked outside my door. In short I was pleased.

I didn't know much about The Balm cosmetics and when I went over to the website I was surprised to find that I had recently coveted one of the pieces. The Balm had recently been in a Glossybox their lovely FratBoy blush/eyeshadow went down a treat. I saw the design and just wanted it! When I went to have a peak at the collection it's all very 1950s Pin Up inspired which really appealed to me. Somewhere between Benefit and Soap and Glory in style and nicely cheeky. They sent me 3 different pieces to try and I'll post them separately because I have some photos for each and I don't want to just have one giant post.

Today is the turn of The Balm Cheater Mascara. I'm always in search of the holy grail of mascaras and I'm a tough customer to please. They have to be versatile enough for me to wear with my extensions, they have to not flake, give some thickness to my normal lashes, not clump, my list is long.

The package is cute it's a little bit Gone with the Wind and the detailing on the side emphasising the different facets of the mascara in the form of matinee idols is a lovely idea. My personal favourite was Donnie Dark-Coat. I wasn't really sure what to think. Often I've tried things which look gorgeous in their packaging and in practise they just don't live up to the hype. I'd never used any of The Balm products, I'd never even read any reviews for them. They're an American company so no doubt my US followers will be very familiar with them. For me they were brand new. I was really surprised, as I loved it.

This is 3 coats and look not a clump!

Up close and personal

At the end of the day, not a crumble in sight

I was really impressed that it was still on, without a crumble or a flake at the end of the day. Mainly I'm very chuffed that 3 coats and it didn't bulk up. Normally when a mascara is fresh out of the box it tends to be a little more prone to having excess sit on the brush but I was delighted that it just didn't seem to be the case with this one.

I am actually so impressed with it, I very rarely wax lyrical about a product but if you're in the market for a new mascara I'd definitely recommend it if you fancy a change. If you want to have a nosy at some of The Balm's products they're over here I completely love the packaging. I'll be back soon with another of the pieces from the collection.

Much Love

There are usually beauty coupons available for mascara and other makeup.
