This year I decided to be a little bit smarter and see if I could take a little bit of the sting out of the choice. I'd seen lots of online adverts for various ways of ordering cards, personalising them and I thought maybe it was time to venture forth into the world of online cards. The last time I had anything to do with online cards they were e-cards that you would email to people. They'd take an hour and a half to download properly and usually they were animated. I hadn't sent one of those in a very long time and it wasn't what I was looking for.
I was surprised though when I hit CardStore online and there was loads of choice and best of all, personalisation!
I contemplated if it was wise to put very random photos in my Valentines card to Himself. Should I go down the classic couples shot, me and him together looking smiley? I decided not, it's a bit cliché after all, I thought about maybe going with just a picture of him. Then I decided no it's a bit weird to have a photo of yourself on your own card. I scrolled through my entire online photo album, through pictures of pugs, dinners out, holidays and nothing clicked. The ability to personalise seemed to open up my decision making process even more, which was not good for someone quite so indecisive.
Eventually I settled on a photo of our feet I'd taken in the Forum in Rome. Yes alright it's not the most romantic picture in the world, but I really liked it. It was a picture I'd taken on our trip to Rome for our six month anniversary (it's six years this May). The only thing was...the text was also able to be personalised. I went scurrying off and grabbed one of my favourite quotes from The Wedding Singer.
'I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad Oh all I wanna do is grow old with you
I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches Build you a fire if the furnace breaks Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you '
Slightly unconventional but I liked it. Quickly I put it into the card and with just a few clicks done! I'm quite impressed with myself, I've cut down on my card buying time and I've ordered it in what I think is a big size (who knows which A2 A4 A5 is bigger) so I'm hoping its here shortly or at least in time for Valentines Day!
I'm really hoping he likes it, I am really pleased because I think he'll open it up and laugh at the picture and hopefully like the little quote inside. It's certainly better than a generic off the rack card, at least I know no-one will have the same card as him now!
Ok so no-one mention this post to him...or he's going to know what his Valentines card looks like.
Hopefully you've already got yours sorted, have you gone down the personalised card route like me? Or have you gone for something a little more conventional? I'm really surprised I haven't ventured into online cards before, everything else I do is online, there's no turning back now. I'm thinking about all the other possibilities for random personalised cards I can make!
Have a lovely Valentines Day folks, whatever it is you're doing. Take it easy.
Much Love

I have just ordered a personalised card and it is super sweet, like you I had the cliche crap that card stores offer. Last year I ordered him a Skyrim valentines day card - he loved it. Congrats on being together that long.
P:S your blog banner is super cute, I love it.

I love those examples, if only I had someone to send one too. Think I'll send one to myself, if I get that depressed :)
You have a great blog here, the bun-tin is too cute!
Just Smile.

I think valentines is one of those things where it depends how you celebrate it! It for me is always an excuse to eat heart shaped choc!
